Search for current news articles on any topic.
What It Does
The News app searches for recent news articles and headlines. It is optimised for finding timely, relevant news content and automatically filters out low-quality tabloid sources by default.
Available skills:
- Search – Finds news articles matching your query. Results show article titles, descriptions, publication dates, and source information. You can search for multiple topics at once (up to 5 in parallel).
Search options your mate can use:
- Filter by freshness: past 24 hours, past week, past month, or past year (defaults to past week)
- Search in specific countries or languages
- Adjust safe search level
- Filter tabloid sources on or off
How to Use It
- Ask about current events: “What is happening with the EU elections?”
- Search for industry news: “Latest AI news this week”
- Get specific updates: “News about SpaceX Starship launch”
- Your mate automatically uses the News app when you ask about current events or recent happenings.

Tips
- Results appear as preview cards with article titles and descriptions. Click any result to read the full article.
- For more in-depth reading, ask your mate to read the full article using the Web app’s read feature.
- Tabloid and low-quality sources are filtered out by default. If you specifically want those sources, just ask.
- News search defaults to the past week. Ask for “news today” or “news this month” to change the time window.
