Demo Chats

Pre-built example conversations that show what OpenMates can do. Available to everyone, even without an account.

What It Does

Demo chats are curated conversations that appear in the sidebar for all visitors. They let you see real examples of OpenMates conversations before (or without) creating an account.

Types of Demo Chats

Intro Chats

Built-in chats that are always available, even offline:

  • OpenMates | For everyone – An introduction for new users.
  • OpenMates | For developers – Developer-focused features, REST API, CLI, and privacy.
  • Who develops OpenMates? – Meet the creator and learn about the project philosophy.

These chats are translated into all supported languages.

Community Demos

Example conversations submitted by users and approved by the team:

  • Up to 10 “For Everyone” demos covering general topics.
  • Up to 4 “For Developers” demos covering technical topics.
  • Updated periodically as new submissions are approved.
  • Automatically translated into all supported languages.

How to View Demo Chats

Demo chats appear under Example Chats in the sidebar. Click any demo to read through the conversation. No account or login is required.

  • Demo chats work offline once they have been loaded at least once.
  • Content updates are detected automatically – you always see the latest versions.

Sharing a Chat with the Community

Community-demo submission is planned product behavior and may not be available in every build yet.

If you have a great conversation and want to share it as a community demo:

  1. Open the chat you want to share.
  2. Use the Share with Community option.
  3. Your chat content is decrypted on your device and sent for review. Your original chat remains encrypted as always.
  4. An admin reviews and approves the submission.
  5. Once approved, the chat is translated and published for everyone.

What Happens to Your Privacy

  • Your original chat stays fully encrypted – nothing changes for your private copy.
  • The demo version is a separate copy that becomes public content.
  • The server never receives your chat encryption key.
  • Approved demo chats are translated into all supported languages using automated translation.

Tips

  • Demo chats are a great way to discover what OpenMates can do before diving in.
  • Community demos are real conversations that have been approved for quality and helpfulness.
  • If you want to continue a demo conversation, just start typing – it will create a personal copy in your account.
